After that last repair (replacement of an air shock) I thought about getting rid of it and going for an E-Class or 5-Series, but reading their reviews and forums let me know that i'd go through the same thing with either of those.

One thing I wouldn't go through with either of those is turning back to look at the car every time I walk away and the consistent compliments that I get on it. I don't think I could give that up...except to get another Jaguar!!!

Our S-Type was much more reliable and I felt the CATs coil suspension rode better than the CATs air setup on the VDP. Add to that the fact that I converted the car to coils anyway. The S-Type was still a bit pricey to maintain, but I only put about $3k into it in 5 years time, but that beats the $4k and counting the VDP has taken.

If the trans service and thermostat fix are the last couple of things for a while I can finally relax. Once I change the rear diff fluid there shouldn't be much left to break. I hope.
