Cool "Restricted Performance"

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2004 Jaguar XJR with a little over 75,500 miles and yesterday the following message came on the message center:

"Restricted Performance"

It then disappeared and did not come back on yet. I did notice the car a little sluggish but not anymore.

Should I be concerned???

Thanks for your responses in advance.

Kwon

Something's not right, that's for sure, so you need to get the fault code(s) read out to see where the problem lies. Then you can decide what to do, (the shop will likely suggest some repair).

Is there a way to get the codes out without a scanner? Like connecting a jumper somewhere and reading the blinks of the CEL?

Not that I know of. Most parts stores will read your codes in the parking lot for free, though.

I had the same thing happen to my 2005 XJ8L a month ago. Check my posts after you get the codes read and see if my experience helps you.

Thanks NDW,

I will have the codes read and then I'll check your posts. I did check the air box and found the air filter super filthy so I replaced it and did notice a difference but I'm sure there is more to it than that.

Pull out your MAF sensor and see if it needs to be cleaned. If your air filter was really dirty then chances are your MAF sensor is dirty too
