This is good information that these communities offer. Chances are rare one person would every see (or even remember!) all the idiosyncrasies related to cooling issues.

Default Restricted Performance and other bad news.

I had a Restricted Performance notice turn out to be a bad coil on my #6 cylinder. Your overheat co-problem I had too but I couldn't complete the diagnosis when the thermostat housing blew on the freeway (making the diagnosis, of course, moot). It cost me near $300 for the plastic parts from the Jag dealer. I have a fresh appreciation for the Jag thing, they use cheap plastic crap that breaks, overengineered, and over priced...buts its there when you need it. Lots of pressed shirts standing behind the parts counter extolling the virtues of their $2300 apiece rims then charging me $300 for a thermostat housing. But then one slips me a gallon of coolant and tells me to be quiet. Class move, I guess they're peeps too.
