Smile Results - Epic roadtrip in the '06 VDP

Just returned to LA from a roadtrip to Texas and back and all I can say is wow.

I've owned my VDP for a little less than a year now and I am so impressed after taking it on this trip. From 100+ degree weather one day to snow and ice the very next... zero issues.

The seats were comfortable for 400 mile+ runs at a time and the total average mileage for the entire 4000 mile trip... 30.1 MPG!

I also received so many positive comments regarding this car. Amazing how many people guessed the car to be far newer and more expensive than what I actually paid for it.

I plan to keep this Jag for many years. I fully expect some expensive repairs from time to time... but it's darn well worth it for such a fabulous machine.

I love it.

A Prius with a/c or heater on gets about the same....

I was particularly impressed with the MPG considering I drove through 700 miles of west Texas highway at 80+ MPH. Yeehaw for Texas speed limits!

I see you opted for the classic roadside cattle pic. i suppose i take them for granted now. I like your dark interior. Cranberry?

lol... well I do kinda miss the cows. Don't see many of them around here in socal. They did look quite puzzled though as to what the hell I was doing.

My vdp does have the cranberry interior. It's so beautiful. Everyone that sees it is just blown away.

Funny, isn't it; in the 60s a red interior was very popular in all the Jaguar saloons and even into the 80s a red interior was commonplace, (my old 1980 XJ6 had a Russet Red interior), yet now they are very rare, but IMHO look really good. My car is Ivory which is still pretty good for me !

I'm very pleased to see you like the car so much, they were one of the most under-rated cars Jaguar ever made. I think it was because the style was not new, so the teenage scribblers in the auto magazines slammed it for being old fashioned. Whatever, at least we know the truth !

Default Precious

Now that they're gone, they are more appreciated.
The better kept ones are starting to get rarer and will fetch better prices.
Glad the suspension bushings are now available.
Snow all melted. Going riding this weekend. Finally.

Here's a few pics... I need to take some better ones. The color is actually not really bright red as it appears in some of the pics.

I mentioned this before in the forum when I first got this car... I love the red and black but not a fan of the light grey pillar/ceiling trim. Still thinking of maybe some day figuring out a way to change these to black but keep the OEM look. I don't want to do anything that looks less than original.
