Reverse light switch
HI everyone
Could use some help. My reverse lights are not working. The auto electrician says that there is power. He suggested that it could be the reverse light switch. Does any one know this switch is located and how to go about replacing it. Vehicle Jaguar 2004 XJ8. Rt Hand Drive.
You Guys input will be greatly appreciated
Take care

Must be an old-school auto electrician. The actual switch is internally in the transmission. If your car drives in reverse that switch is working.
I think it is a long and winding route from there to the reverse light. The reverse signal is sent by CAN bus to the Instrument cluster which then sends it to the Rear Electronic Module via the SCP bus. The REM then grounds out the reverse lights to activate them. Pin CR71-9 on the REM.
Try grounding out the reverse lamp on the opposite connection to the B+s. The Ignition will have to be in run position so there is power to the light since it is switched power. Both reverse lights should come on when you do this. Jf not then the lights are bad or connections bad internally.
