Well had to visit a customer near Inverness today, so left Cumbernauld at around 7am and hit the road......
It was a beautiful day and headed for some of Scotland's stunning scenery, what's not to like?
Roads were fairly quiet and made decent time, although the average speed cameras from Dunblane onwards mean it's very slow progress compared to back in the day!
Adds quite some time to my journeys these days lol.
Anyhow got to my customer around 9am there or thereabouts and mpg etc was pretty good, around 41.1mpg
Left my customer around half an hour later for the return journey and had 2 voicemails, one of which was from Tracy Mitchell of Jaguarforums, she's a coach driver FYI
The message was as follows, Jim, did I just pass you on the A9?
Called her back and confirmed, yes, it was me..........small world eh??
Here's a couple of videos of part of the trip, sun shining, blue skies and stunning scenery, love it. Oh and of course some appropriate Scottish / driving music too lol
Got home and found as follows.......
Miles travelled 246.9

Thanks Jay
The countryside is gorgeous, the trip was great, very peaceful and scenic
Unfortunately Jay, there are average speed cameras pretty much the whole way, so 70mph was about the max at one point, the rest all at about 60mph, hence the 56mph average as it worked out.
Jim
Cheers, it was a beautiful day in stunning surroundings, really enjoyable

The trick to being able to enjoy the roads at high speed... is to play the YouTube video at 2X speed.

Seriously though, road cameras in England are making it miserable to drive there. I drove from Manchester to Birmingham in April. There were average speed cameras nearly the whole way. It took forever to get there and the trip was stressful. Driving should be fun, but it seems not to be that way anymore in England. I remember (twenty years ago) driving from London to Northampton, up the M1 at 102mph. There were other cars behind me flashing their lights, because they wanted to pass. Talk about a massive change in a short period of time.

Yeah for sure, it's a;; change up here now, quite a few decent roads all loaded with average speed cameras now
