Default Roof racks sports and cargo carriers

Does anyone have a roof rack of any type for the X350?

I just took possession of a 2005 VDP. It was disappointing to learn that there is no pass through from the trunk, due to position of the gas tank between the rear seat and trunk. Next possibility is a roof top cargo box, but the major manufacturers (Thule, Yakima) have no adapters for the Jag roof!

Any solutions? Or will I have to leave the Jag home when heading to the slopes for the boys' ski racing practice?

The tank isn't in the way actually and there was an option when the car was new to have a pass-through hatch.

Last time I had the trim off in the boot I think I spotted a plate where the pass-through would go so you may find you can take that off and modify the material behind the arm rest.

Roof carriers and adaptors were available from Jaguar (see attached) so one of the manufacturers must make something.

Oh, thanks! I was on Thule and Yakima's website, also at a Thule dealer, both show no adapters for the XJ8. Wonder who makes the Jag carrier? I already have a Thule cargo box and the cross bars, I was hoping to just get a foot adapter kit, but I could attach the cargo box to most any cross bar.

As to the pass through, that's interesting, another member had said that the fuel tank resides behind the rear seat. If that's the case, I might look into getting it mod'd for a pass through, that would be best for skiing, no roof top box needed!

No it is actually under the rear seat and is saddle bag shaped to straddle the drive shaft and exhausts.

One of the reasons I just post my car for sale. I was stupid not to research roof rack before buying this car, but it is something quite important to me. 4 years of putting bicycle in the trunk has taken its toll.

Good luck on finding a roof rack.

Am I missing something here? If I go to the Thule website and select

Jaguar > XJ-Series > 2002-2008 > 2005

it shows me roof bar and clamp options.

The clamps in the attached roof rack fitment guide don't look particularly special either.

Thanks for the information! I found a Jaguar roof rack at a dealer in Cleveland, selling for only $180. Cheaper than from Thule or Yakima, nice quality, with a custom fit to the XJ8 roof. Yakima and Thule accessories may fit, I got a Yakima roof box with clamps right on it. Very nice solution!

May still look into getting a pass through cut someday, but having a box solves the immediate problem.
