Default Rough ride after shock front replacement.

I was receiving the air suspension fault a few months ago, and knew that my front shocks were going bad, so I had them replaced with a brand new, not a rebuilt, set. Ever since then the car has been riding extremely rough. I think it may be the upper shock bushings? If that were the case, is there a way to tell without taking the shocks back off? Thank you in advance.

When I say a rough ride I mean that I feel every bump almost as bad as if the shocks were deflated. And the "upper bushing" I was referring to is the rubber piece on top of the shock, sometimes red I think? I just wanted to clarify.
