cincinati.
I just replaced the side marking light in the front bumber - price $45 each(Jag dealer) - I replaced it because it was cracked. Try to sand the connector and use a electronic deoxidizing spray(fry's) and add dielectric grease to prevent it from rusting in the future - it should work.

I've had this problem with my right rear bumper marker. I took the light out, ran a small bead of silicone around the circumference of the light where the lens meets the rest of the housing to hopefully seal it up. As for the corroded socket, I ended up cutting the crusty plug off factory harness and solder on a new (old) one from a salvaged car.
I never had this problem with the lights on my Xtype which seemed to be constructed in a very similar manner.
