Default Sat Nav screen brightness

I have recently noticed a small reduction in the touch screen brightness and since I want

to keep this Jag I have researched what the cause might be.

It seems that the backlight may be a CCFL and for those that don't know what

that stands for (I include myself until recently) it is COLD CATHODE FLOURESCENT LIGHT ie the

same as the long flourescent tubes that have been around for years.

We know that the light from these tubes fades with time so this may well be the cause of reduced

brightness on the Sat Nav.

I have found a company that specialise in these tubes (in the USA) but they have no data on Denso

headunits hence I would need to dismantle the screen and measure length and dia. of the tube.

They can make custom tubes if nescessary.

I would be interested to hear from anyone with knowledge or experience of the above.

Cheers everyone.

Bob
