Satnav problem

I knew it couldn't last........
Car has been going well, with no known faults since lighting switch, and heater fan control unit was replaced. However, today my satnav played up by getting lost several times on a trip out to see the sights. Each time I went into "Calibration" the correct location was shown but not on the main nav screen. Pressing OK set it off again, but on the last time, whilst it was in the right town, it showed the wrong street. I had to move the pointer to where I knew I was, (being nearer home, so familiar with the streets).
Anybody had this before, and if so what was the reason ?

Just a guess here but do you have the sat dish iscon present on the nav screen?
That would indicate no gps lock.
I'm guessing they had the head unit out and forgot to reconnect the gps antenna when they put it back
The nav uses both GPS, Gyro and speed signal to gain the position.
The Gyro and speed is used when the gps does not have a signal.
The gyro direction is not that accurate and would have you off position fairly quickly.
Its really meant to keep you on track in a tunnel but gets out of wack when you do a lot of turns
There is also a screen showing the gps signal lock but i cant remember how to get into that.
I'd check your gps signal
Cheers
