Trading-Up
I have an opportunity to acquire a 2012 Jaguar XJL (Portfolio) that has had one owner. Mileage is 97 km. Since the owner recently passed away, I need some direction on the wholesale price to acquire. Obviously, the lower the price, the better. As a guide, a Jaguar dealer indicated they wouldn't pay more than $10K (Can) to acquire the car since there is little market interest in cars with mileage of close to 100km or more. He sees the wholesale range as $10K-$15K. Is this realistic?
As for the sale of the 2008 VDP, the car is in excellent shape with 198km. It is liquid silver with black interior and has the entertainment centre (w/o the video) in the rear seat. What is a realistic sale price to sell it privately?
Many thanks, Murphman

Non mechanical people are afraid to buy Jaguars...And most people are non mechanical. Others that want the newer body upgrades would likely forgo the 07 for the 08 for the modest price difference...On the other hand the amount of 04s built was immense which will attract buyers with a smaller pocketbook and it still looks the same through 07...Not to discredit your car by any means!

Thank you for your replies. The 2012 will be purchased from a private party--not the dealer.
On the weekend, the dealer indicated the wholesale price for the 2012 to be $20K. He also said he would purchase the 2008 VDP for $5K without any trade-in. He siad a private sale of the 2008 would likely not garner more than $8K. I plan to drive the 2008 back from Florida to Canada and sell it. It is a great car.
