Default Selling my 05 XJR

Well, life has it's up and down and I'm at the downside of it right now. Choices of between keeping the wife happy and feed the family or my love for steroids on wheels guess which one I'm choosing...

Probably will be without steroids on wheels for 2-3 years time until everything is back to where it was and until then, I'll be using my 03 P71 Crown Vic as a daily driver again.

Currently researching on how much to price my Jag at and crying a little in the corner of my room. Life will still goes on and I really love this community as a whole because of the level of maturity and planning to stick around and help out as much as I can with my limited knowledge on these marque. I treated Jaguarforums as a family instead of just another disposeable internet forum just because of the quality of members here in terms of politeness and level of maturity.

Well till then, bed time coming in and will update on the selling once I've done cooking up the for sale ad from the microwave.

@Casper

You will always be welcome on the forums as you are a Jaguar enthusiast for sure. Having one or not doesn't change that. I still frequent the X308 forum even though I don't have mine anymore, because every now and again I can help someone.

When circumstances allow, I'm sure you will have another Jag. These cars do get under your skin

Good luck in selling yours.... hopefully it goes to someone who appreciates it

That's very nice of you to say Casper, and you're making the best choice...albeit a sacrifice. I wish you all the best for a fast, financial recovery. Good luck with the sale also.

Best of luck to Casper at not only a fair price, but finding a caring new minder for his old mount.

As to 'get under your skin'?

Do they ever!

Less than two weeks in the XJ8-L and already wondering if I could find another one with severe-enough rear-end damage to go cheaply and ....

..justify conversion to a 'Miss Agnes' style pickup-truck to replace the Sonoma...

Well thanks for all the kind words and support everyone.

Well, how do I start. Got relocated with the job where the boss opening up a new branch. Moved from a small town where everything and cost of living is pretty cheap and even not making a killing but make enough to live comfortable.

New place is one of the higher cost of living town in the state and new place isn't making as much, short story is income is about 1/3 less than before. Boss is losing $$$ every month so guess we(few of employee) all have to ride it out for the time being, first month boss is compensating for the loss income for us but his finance is tight up his neck so he can't afford it and we understand. We don't mind it because he took care of us when we are under his employment.

My debt is start building up and I'm about 4k and building up slowly. This is the first time that I'm in debt other than the regular car payment of $400 a month.

I have 2 car, this XJR and a 03 Ford Crown Victoria police version. Selling the crown vic is not an option because you guys sure know how much that thing will fetch on the market anyway. Next only logical choice is the XJR that if sold, will let me paid off the loan and have leftover to cover the debt that I'm in and some leftover to help out for the next few months.

Some of you maybe thinking why I didn't have some saving and spend what I make every month? I don't make 6figure salary per annum, did have some saving over the years but over the course of the past 4 years family issue back home pretty much drained the saving account dried, little bit saving left is use to cover the negative income that is mounting and finally dried up.

As many will see that life sucks but on my perspective I agree. Nothing I can change it for the time being but I'm glad it happen also. Good thing is I still have a job and still have roof over my head, I didn't have to beg for food or gas money on the street yet, and the most important thing is, it let me learn the lesson of appreciating what I have(or soon to be used to have) and the circle of life. Sure it sucks now for the time being but I'm thinking 10 or 15 years later down the road if I'm driving a brand new XJR that I can afford comfortably I will appreciate the life lesson that I learn and ride thru now. If 10 or 15 years down the road and I'm still driving this Crown Vic then I'll know that either I need to wake up and give myself a good headsmack and do the right thing to turn my life around.

Till then I didn't know what to write here anymore for the time being so I'll stop here for now. Wish everyone appreciate what you've earn and have right now and be proud of it.

Here are some photo and my phone number if interested.

Car is having about 117k now and I believed every single option other than front parking sensor and headlight washer and headlight auto leveling(if it even an option in the XJR), lowered a little bit via washer mode, can return to stock height if needed, navigation DVD is either 07 or 08 version, have rear entertainment system, just call me to go thru everything because I don't know what else you may wanna know. Some cosmetic issue since it's an 2005 vehicle instead of 2013 vehicle.

Thanks.

I used to live in Midland and can come up there if need to be to show the car.

Casper,

Family always comes first and that's a serious drop in income but it's a major plus that you have a job and your home. It must seem very hard right now but you've made the only possible choice. I hope you get a fair price for the XJR and am sure, with such a passion for Jaguar, another one will be in your garage sooner than you think possible at the moment.

Graham

Well, some good news and bad news.

Good news is I'm keeping my Jag, bad news is I'm still in debt. Good news is I'm half in dept compared to last month, bad news is I'm still in debt. Good news my debt will be cleared by next month. Bad news is my wife still didn't know that I took down the for sale sign from the car. Still doesn't know how to relay this to her yet since she is a few thousand miles away from me in another continent and will still be for another few months.

I don't have my own house yet but hopefully will have one that is under my own name 2 or 3 years down the road instead of keep renting place.

Reason for the decision for not selling it is because with my situation I've learned how to slim down my spending significantly for the past few months. Most of my spending is pretty much on food only because since wife not here and just by myself and I don't cook a lot so I've always eat out. During those times instead of eating comfortably at a restaurant I chose to eat as cheap as possible. Buying one take out and split it into lunch and dinner from that single meal. Over time the saving really show and my spending is cut into the minimum.

Then this past Sunday I was at a friend's place eating and there is this couple with one of their mom stop and look at the parked Jag. I went out and greet and he is asking all kinds of question. He offer me of a measly 8k for it and I reject, deep inside me I was like "Are you kidding me? 8k for XJR?"

Then the same evening I wash the car, vacumm and cleaned it really well, then a friend while waxing his car he kinda just wax my portion of the quarter panel. Then after I finish the interior and still early then I say to myself why not and continue to finish waxing the whole car. After finishing it and looking at it and just realize that the night before after I've paid off the 2k credit card bill and by September after I've pay off the rest of my debt I will be debt free, sit down and think thru it for about 10 minutes I just walk to the back windows and ripped that for sale sign off.

Well, that's my life experience and another chapter in my life that I will probably never forget it and will only appreciate the joy of that cherish moment from then on. I might not be rich but I enjoy the gratification from the fruit of labor that I've earn with my own effort.

Oh man, that blue is beautiful. It looks like the Tardis. Dare I say... Cardis.

Congrats on working through your issues and keeping your toy. As a former owner of a 2003 Crown Vic Police Interceptor (yes really, it was the car I drove before the Jaguar), I can specifically relate.

Well here is some pic after the wax. The close up picture is to show that I'll have to find a solution and invest some elbow grease for the swirl mark or is this what they call "Paint correction"?

That is not my garage but the garage is my work place garage. So no, I don't own the golf cart.

That's a very tough regime but I'll bet you didn't initially think you could be clearing the debt that fast.

The offer for the XJR sounds like someone trying to take advantage of your situation and expecting you'd take anything offered for it. If you can't get within 90% of your asking price, then it's like giving it away.

I'll be watching out for the 'debt cleared' post in September. Stick at it!

Way to buckle down...I've done the 'one meal = lunch + dinner' thing before. Good thinking!
