Default sensor problem?

Maybe someone out there can help me on this. I have a 2008 XJ and lately my sensor that is supposed to go off when a vehicle is too close has just been going off even when there is nothing close to me, or too close to me. It's really annoying and I have to put the car in neutral to get it to stop as it only goes off when I am stopped at a light, or something. In my opinion this is one of those things that is unnecessary in the first place and is just another thing that can break that doesn't need to be there anyway. I do not want to bother spending a lot of money to have it looked at and fixed as, like I said, I don't need it anyway. I can see myself if someone is close to me without having to have a beeper going off. My question, is there maybe a fuse that is for the sensor's that I could take out, or maybe a wire that I could disconnect?

You might be able to hook up the Jag SDD in engineering mode and turn that option off. I'm not sure tho, as I've never looked for it.

If you are just wanting to disable the feature, you can easily just press the parking aid button in the roof map lighting panel to turn proximity sensors off.
Note: That only turns it off for the duration of the current drive cycle, as when you restart the car the proximity system will automatically come back on.....so simply reach up and switch it off again.

There is no isolation fuse that you can pull, as the fuse that feeds the parking aid module also is a supply line to the electronic parking brake......so you won't be wanting to pull that.

Thanks Mark, I'll try that.
