Question Service History

Hi Guys
Does the Jaguar CPU keep a record of Service History?
Regards,

You have a Japanese Import. So do I. Why would anyone keep a Service History besides the owner or their workshop?

It happens that I do have a full service history with my Jap Import. It's in Japanese but at least the dates can be read. This stuff has to be obtained by the importer when they buy it in Japan, so maybe you can ask them. Once they've sold the vehicle, they probably couldn't care less. Documentation is one of the many issues to consider prior to purchase.

(It was just something I was lucky with. Most Jap imports, and I have or had many of various brands, come with no history at all)

(If you're worried about airbag recalls, at least in this country the appointed agent is obliged to check that. Jaguar were not on the list last time I checked, though my Hondas were (one was not subject to recall and one was done in Japan *according to the agent*) Keyword: Takata

I would have thought, in this day and age, that a record of servicing could be kept on the car CPU.
I do not have a Service Log and was hoping that since the car is going to Jag Indy Specialist tomorrow they may be able to interrogate the CPU.

Possibly it could but you do not have a car from today's time but rather from many years ago.

I can see many reasons why car makers would not want to do it, too.

Also, it would provide a great target for naughty people to fake servicing.

Doesn't Jaguar provide service histories on line (outside of USA). I seem to remember inputting my VIN to get a service history and the Corporate site told me service was not available in USA. A real shame. Previous owners of my car had it serviced at their local Jaguar dealer, but all I know is what's on the CarFax. So I know the transmission was serviced at 45,000 miles but don't know if that was a reflash or a fluid change. Real annoying.

You can call a Jaguar dealer for WARRANTY Operations, RECALLS/Service Actions that may or may not have been complied with but actual customer service history is NOT recorded by Jaguar.
The service provider (dealer or indy shop) has the info at the service location ONLY. There is no CENTRAL SERVICE INFO CENTER 'YET'.

Someday you might find all the info 'on-line' for your broken toe from 30 years ago but 'big-brother' has not caught up yet??

OSH (Online Service History) was introduced by Jaguar in 2014 in the UK to replace paper service books. Originally I had to have a User Name and Password to access my vehicle records but JLR changed this a few months ago to only requiring the VIN. The problem with this is anyone can access my vehicle service records and I can access any 2014 onwards Jaguar history simply by using the VIN visible through the windscreen. I've raised a data protection question about this with Jaguar CRC but am still waiting for a reply.

Ouch - can't see it being compliant with GDPR!

Maybe contact the regulator. They can issue an enforcement notice and/or fines.

This will STILL only work if you take the car to the DEALER.
Indy service centers are not likely to post to that site.

Yes but some people only use dealers (the previous owners of my car) it would be nice to see what type of service was performed. I think it would increase the value of dealer provided service.

I have a 04 VDP 175k daily driver, and a now up for sale 95 VDP with 50k that needs to go for more room in the shop.
And service history for service reminder resets is only a feature for the 5.0, 3.0, v6 and 4 cylinder turbo that monitor oil oil life. ANd Im speaking solely on US market. Im sure there are a lot of different variables world wide
