Side Marker Lamps - help

Side Marker Lamps - help
Hi guys.
Looking to retrofit side marker lamps on the rear of my UK XJR. I believe these will genuinely make it much safer when I reverse out of my driveway in winter.
I have ordered the parts. But there is nowhere to plug them in.
Has anyone else done this? Should the loom be present? If not, where can I tee off from?
Thanks in advance!

Hi XJR_hunter
My car doesn't have these, so I can't check physically, but looking at the 2004 Electrical Guide..
The two main circuits are on Fig 01.7, which shows the power source, and Fig 08.3 for External Lighting Rear.
The lights work by having 12v supplied to them at all times. To make them work, the Rear Electronics Module (REM) puts a ground on the light it wants to light.
In the Rear Power Distribution Fuse Box in the RHS of the boot/trunk on Fuse 18 it goes to connector CR84-4. That has a wire NR (brown/red) that goes to the connector BR1-2 for the left side and BR1-1 for the right side. So 12v for the lights is on the Brown/Red wire.
The earths to light the lamps come from the REM with Orange/Green on BR1-4 for the left side and Orange/Yellow on BR1-3 for the right side.
I would look for BR1 connector with 4 pins, 2 NR and one each of OG and OY. It should be somewhere near the rear fuse box, and will not be connected to anything.
I hope this gives you a start. Good luck and get back to us with what you find..

Thanks very much for the reply.
I actually did have a look at the schematics already. However I wasn't sure whether the REM would even be programmed to close the contacts for the side markers at all considering they weren't on UK spec cars at all, I couldn't find any info on that.
I'm thinking it might just be easier to wire them in parallel with the rear tail LEDs if possible, but do you reckon that could trigger some kind of error if the module detects too much current being pulled?

You could try them in parallel with the tail lights. It would be better if the marker lamps were LEDs too, in that case. I don't think that the circuit would detect an extra two LEDs with all the ones in the tail lights already.
If you find that connector BR1. you could clip a test light to it also. I'm not sure they would program the REM differently, it is probably easier just to delete the harness and change the marker lights to reflectors. Still, this is Jaguar....
