Default Sirius Radio - Dealer Installed - How to Remove?

My only regret in choosing the XJ8L that I did was that it has a dealer installed Sirius Radio - an option available from sometime in 2005 to whenever they figured out it was crap. Not sure when that was, but it was after they put one in my car.

This was done by yanking out the nice wood veneer ash tray and tossing it in the trash, then a piece of simulated piano black panel was installed in the ash trays place with a Sirius radio module - I believe works as an FM transmitter or possible through the the bluetooth inputs on the radio. I mention Bluetooth only because mine is inoperable.

I want to pull it all out an I have found ashtrays on ebay - the biggest trick will be getting wood that somewhat matches my console shift surround. As we all know the wood in Jaguars is completely unique to every car - one of the grat charms of these vehicles. As much as I am a fan or darker woods, and my dash is reasonably dark, my console piece has some lighter areas, one right along where it would (wood?) meet the ashtray - to further the dillema it has a pattern almost like birdseye. I realize I will NEVER match it , but would like to have at least a similar ratio of light to dark burl in the new piece. Perhaps I will need to get both the surround and ash tray together. Sigh... But I digress.

Would anyone have the slightest idea where I could research to possibly find the dealer install instructions for the stupid Sirius module? I would be forever grateful to that person and would gladly come by an polish and wax the wood panels in their car....Hey! That ashtray looks kind of.... nevermind!

There's nothing complex to it, really. The XM radio has an FM modulator that connects in-line with the radio's antenna. The modulator is adhered to the radio chassis with foam tape. Then in the trunk behind the right carpet is the control unit. Unplug the connections to that and it's one or two screws. You can remove the antenna from the roof with floss, and get the gum off with WD-40, then clean and polish the paint.

The wiring from trunk to dash is just run under the carpet, remove a few trim panels and the rear seat and you can remove it all in one piece. I actually sold my complete system to someone who wanted it for their car.

The kit installation instructions are online somewhere along with the owner's manuals... I have a PDF, i will see if I can upload them. If not, PM me and I'll email you the file.

-Michael

Edit: if you want to leave the wiring and system in the car for the next owner to put back, just unplug the modulator from the radio antenna and leave the rest in the car.
