Sirius Sat. Radio removal???

Greetings....new here. Just recently purchased a 2006 XJR with, what I'm assuming is a factory-installed Sirius Sat. Radio. I reside in Hawaii and sat. radio doesn't work here. Does anyone know how the sat radio connects to the rest of the sound system? I believe I can use the same connection for an Ipod fm transmitter. I believe it is wired through the radio antenna, so adaption shouldn't be a problem.
My big question is, How do I get this center panel out....I can't figure it out. Did a search here with no luck. Any help is appreciated.

Congrats on the new car and welcome to the comunity.
The Sat radio uses FM modulator and is connected to the antenna of the regular radio. There is no RCA input. You can get the same resuts with any after marked FM modulator for iPod - you dont need to connect it to the antenna, the radio will pick it up. Jag sells an iPod connector module, if you want to go that route.
For the best instructions. Go to the sticky post on the top of this forum, where you can download the user manuals. From the list on the left select "accesory installation", then you can download the install manual for the sat radio.

Bingo, that the manual I needed....got it. Now I don't have to worry about breaking something inadvertantly. Thanks, I appreciate it.
I tried a few different FM transmitters, they just don't put out enough power for good sound quality, so wired is the way to go. And from what I read about the factory module, it really limits the functions of the Ipod. So I went with the Harman/Kardon Drive + Play. At Best Buy for about $45 US. I'll be sure to post some pics when its done.
I'm a certified music nut!! If it doesn't sound good, it puts me in a bad mood!

Well, to simplify the install, I used and adapter for the sat. radio FM transmitter (already wired in) to hook up the Ipod controller. Works like a champ. The display unit and the controller are just temp mounted with 2-sided foam tape until my ashtray cover comes in, then I'll install the display unit in that like the sat radio is in its own panel.
"Let me know if you want to sell your Sirius setup, I just bought an 06 XJ8 and want to add Sat radio to it."
Sorry rld....since I'm using the x-mitter from the sat unit, I'm gonna hang on to it for now at least. I'll keep you in mind if I change my plans.
