Solid Airbag Light & Unable to get codes
Hi all,
I recently got a 2004 XJR for a great deal but with airbag light on on both the driver and passenger side. I bought an Autel Autolink AL619 which is supposed to read SRS codes from Jaguar but when I went to scan them it said no connection could be made. Did the engine codes no problem though. Brought it to an independent who has worked on Jags before and the same issue with their computer. I even did selfcheck on the hidden menu screen and no codes were found. Both airbag lights stay on when the car is turned on, no flashing at all. There is an aux cord to connect my phone to the stereo installed by the previous owner. Odometer reads 125k km but it looks like it was rolled by ~20k km by an owner some years ago in the carfax. Called the jag dealer and they said check under seat and do capacitor discharge, none helped. Can't seem to find a problem like this on the forums, any ideas? First jag and its truly is an amazing car!

If the airbag lights stay on then it could be indicating that eg the passenger is too light
ie a child or too big ie too near.
You might deduce that there is an error with one or both sensors which feed the airbag.
Maybe be you should set about methodically checking the wiring and the sensors also
the connections to the airbag itself ie igniter etc.
Other members please chime in if you think this is liable to be dangerous

Airbag light
There is a way to read codes on the specific air error
When the car is started it should blink. That is for example 3 flashes followed by 2 flashes. It will repeat the error code twice.
I was able to trace my error to the drivers side air bag. I changed the 4 pin connector under neath the seat to a more robust connector and the problem went away

A common cause of the air bag light issue is a defective "clockspring" in the steering wheel assembly. I had exactly this problem in a 2005 XJ, cured by replacement of the clockspring.
