Question Source for Chrome Seat & Window Switch Buttons?

Good day!

i am looking to upgrade the seat control buttons to chrome or chrome-framed ones. I am also looking to do the same for all four window controls. I have seen some on here post their before and after photos. Would you be so kind as to advise me as to wear to find these?

Thank you, kindly.

Appreciatively,
Mr. E.

Miles,

I've deleted your identical posts from General Tech Help and US Northeast forums. Please DO NOT multiple post the same question across our forums.

X350 forum is the correct place to post technical questions about your model.

As I assumed uniquely different parties visit uniquely different forums, I did not see this as repetitive or redundant purposes for those reasons. If everyone could relax, that would be fantastic; particularly since I read all available terms of service, and saw no notice of the aforementioned, specifically as it relates to this matter. I would open such a correspondence with a QUESTION next time, to see if the act was done so with malintent, or if the person was simply uninformed about a particular rule.

Miles,

Please read this thread in its entirety:

<>-<> New members - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read <>-<> A MUST read if you just signed up

From Post #1 in that thread:

"Please try to avoid “Double” posting of the same question in different sections of the Forums; this can lead to confusing or contradictory replies from the people trying to help you. For instance, if you're asking about engine issues for your S-type, and you post it there and in the General Tech Help area, that's a no-no and our moderators will delete the General Tech Help thread."

Cheers,

Don

Default Do you know where I can find this?

Hi! I am looking for this chrome add-on for my ‘05 Super V8. Would you be so kind as to help me find this, AND, perhaps, Chrome upgrades. Do you Know where to find it/one similar?

Miles,

I have merged your new post with your preexisting thread on the same subject. You have already been admonished for posting multiple threads on the same topic in different forums. Also be advised that posting multiple threads on the same topic in the same forum is also prohibited for the same reasons. Do not start any more threads on this topic!

In an attempt to help you, I have retitled your thread to reflect its actual subject matter. Our members tend to be very busy people who don't have time to guess whether they possess the information you seek when you use an indefinite title such as your original "Advice Appreciated!," or your subsequent, "Do you know where I can find this?" Including specifics in your titles may help attract members who can help.

Cheers,

Don

I believe I clarified my post, and did not repost the same material; adding an image for said clarity. But, I agree with you. People on this forum must sure be very busy. There appears to be a lack of response time. However, I’d say the moderators are on their A-Game.

Miles,

Clearly, you posted additional information on the same topic, which belongs in the same thread. Furthermore, the title of your third thread, "Do you know where I can find this?" was no more helpful than that of your second, "Advice Appreciated!"

The point I was trying to make is that, without actually reading your thread, how would anyone know the topic of your inquiry, or whether he or she has any relevant information to offer? Members simply don't have time to read every thread; they tend to scan the list of threads and click on those with subjects about which they are interested in learning, or about which they may have relevant information to offer. Given the ambiguity of your previous titles, it is unlikely that many members other than moderators have even read your posts.

Giving your thread a title that includes the subject matter will increase the odds of members who know about these chrome switch covers actually reading and responding to your inquiry.

I hope this makes sense. Please be patient and let's see if the new title attracts some replies.

Cheers,

Don

The wood frame for the seat switch is made by Arden, and can be had for around $600 for two:

If I am not mistaken, the chrome seat switches came on the later x358, though from memory only the two main switches came chromed. You could always look into nickel plating or hydrodipping them if you want them all done, as I would imagine they might be difficult to source from an x358.

Why not just have the parts chrome plated

If you google "plastic chrome plating" in your area you will find lots that do it
Car dealers also have this done on a regular basis but they outsource and charge a markup

For the trim those can be painted in any wood grain you like. You will find a company that does both locally with a bit of searching.

I had one of my cars done as the door switches were in black plastic where the rest was wood/chrome. They used a sample of one of the wood panels to match the rest of the car. Cant help you with who to use as im in Oz but google will find one for you

Cheers

You could look into the seat switches for the 2010+ XJ X351 front seats, although I'm not sure if the wiring is the same/compatible with the X350/X358 wiring. Should be a few on eBay that you can compare vs whatever you have in your car. Also, try a search through both the X350/X358 & X351 forums. I'm pretty sure this question has come up before. As with anything of this type YMMV. Hope this helps

Hi Miles,

Just checking in to see if you've had any success finding the chrome switch covers you are seeking. If so, I hope you'll share your results with the forum.

Cheers,

Don
