Ok, a Jag lurker for a while now, I maned up and test drove an 04 R, not the cleanest example but WOW! Now how can I shop for an 8 after I've seen Paris? HOw does a non blown XJ compare?

And I noticed a pronounced side to side wiggle of the seat back-common?

Sounds like a fairly worn R needin' some tlc. I got my '06 R with almost 50K on it, near mint condition, for $24,900. Check my album for some pics when I bought it.

Test drove an 8 before I bought the R....softer suspension, and still plenty of giddy-up, but nothing like the R. Main difference is the ride quality and power, everything else is the same.

Check AutoTrader and Ebay....might find some deals and better quality.

Didn't know where in Florida you are, did a search on AutoTrader for 05-08 R's, 8's, and Vanden Plas's. Within 500 miles of Orlando. Narrow it down for what your looking for. Hope this helps you out bro. Do a search on Ebay Motors as well......might get lucky.

Thanks for that, we're close to there in Vero. I've been shopping them for a while 1/2 heartedly. Trader pricing is the top $$ I've seen anywhere, 20-50% over going prices on eboy & locally. I guess they have to start somewhere.

Make sure to buy the right car before worrying if you are paying 2-5K too much.

Your best best is to step it up to the Super V8. The Super V8 is best of both worlds in the XJ8.

Jeffn,

There's is a guy on this forum, in Fla, selling an 04 XJR for a reasonable price. Look him up in For Sale Buy Owner section, This was today he had the post with photos and it looked very good.

Looking at that exact model now, 05 on eboy, seems decent but 5-8 k more than I planned on shelling out. He seems like a good dealer, includes a warranty for what their worth also.
