Steering Wheel Sound at low Speeds

There is a somewhat hard to describe sound coming from the steering wheel of my 04 xjr. It has been occurring for several years. It is a low zingy-whine sound. It occurs only when turning at very low speeds. I would think a sound like this might come from the steering pump, but this seems to emanate from the steering wheel?
Any ideas?
Thanks.

If it's the sound i'm thinking of then it's a known issue and there is an additive which can be added to the power steering fluid which will stop the squeaking.

In my 06 x350, the dealer indicated it was a known issue but didn't cause any damage or wear on parts. He said I should leave it alone since they charged $90 to fix it - YIKES!!!!
I went to an indy shop (for an unrelated issue) - they took out 50 ml of PS fluid and put this stuff in for $15. The new fluid takes a while to work it's way thru the system but within 1 week of moderate use the noise was completely gone.
So no damage, but if you can get your hands on the fluid, it's worth doing.

This is indeed a well-known issue and a simple DIY repair. I'm attaching the Jaguar TSB outlining the problem and resolution.
The additive is Jaguar part C2S 48887, available from the online Jag dealers like jaguarmerriamparts.com and gaudinjaguarparts.com, as well as major independent Jag parts suppliers like forum sponsors SNG Barratt and Jagbits, and others such as Coventry West and Welsh Enterprises.
