steering wheel w/o the ACC-gap rocker button
Hello
Turns out the steering wheel I was about to bid on (thread) doesn't have the rocker button for adjusting the distance from a car ahead of you.
This one (my current steering wheel)
Is there a chance that swapping the buttons from my car would retain the functionality after installing the new steering wheel?
Cheers

Per the below snip from the Electrical Schematics - I would check to see if the new steering wheel has the connections for the Yellow/Red and Yellow/Green wiring. Other more knowledgeable then me (a substantial group ) may be able to tell you if there is just one version of the slip ring ("clockspring") setup and with/without adaptive is the same. Judging by the resistance based inputs that set values, I would be optimistic and think the swap would work. I do know that the 2004/2005 is pre-wired for the adaptive option.

"Plan B" might be to leave the donor wheel cosmetically unaltered, 'find' the bizness end of the wiring NOT at the wheel & column.... mount the switch on the fascia?
90% of the crap on my XJ & L320's wheels I WISH TF were at fixed-positions on stalks, the dash, console, or overhead... and NOT on the moving-target wheel. Too much "stuff' so it has become a distracting detriment to safe operation - more especially as one drives more than just the one vehicle.

Once you have removed the airbag (disconnect the battery first and see that your body is not electrically loaded before you start working on airbags), you will see that repalcing the buttons and the wiring should not be a problem. Wiring in steering wheels is normally just "flying".
Moving the buttons to the facia will be much more complicated.
Best regards,
Thomas
