Default STR v. XJR

Fellas/ladies, take a peek at this thread....

Would like some opinions from the XJ side of things. I noticed the forum only has a spot for XJR (up to 2003), I posted there, and if this is the wrong spot to post for 2003+, my apologies.

Nice thread... Seems a lot af people are very passionate about this topic. I however have acctual experience as well as video proof... This video is actually the worst example that I have vs this particular STR. We are both stock 2004 models and had 1 passenger in each vehicle. Within 2 days we got in 5 good runs. These included 2 dig runs and 3 rolls from 45mph+. All runs had the XJR out front substantially. Our rolls from 45 to 125mph had the XJR out front by 2 car legnths. After the major runs the STR driver stated that he has nothing on my XJR. You'll notice thats why he jumped me by half car in this clip... Not that it really mattered, I didn't need much room to catch up..

I informed the STR owner about this thread yesterday so we are going to meet in the near future in order to fully document the performance diffrence between the two vehicles.. He says he has an exhaust leak that he is working on and will have it corrected in a couple days. The moment I have these videos I will gladly post them for your viewing pleasure. I only wish that we had a road course that we could hop on as to seperate the handeling differance as well. I'll be honest I have a lot of behind the wheel experience in every 01-08 "R" model Jaguar and I truly believe that I could take the STR in my XJR on a road course as well... The all aluminum body makes all the difference in the world.

I owned a 2001 XJR and I can validate that my 2004 would spank it in every performance area possible.

I picked up the stock 2001 XJR a couple of years ago. One of my friends was extreamly impressed with it so he went out and aquired a stock 2004 STR. We meet on several occasions and did some all out runs. Im talking digs and rolls all the way up to 155mph. The STR was unable to get out front on any of the runs. These were very very close though.. I only had him by 1/2 a car to a car at most each time. After that my friend was pretty pissed off and went crazy with modifications (Ported Blower,Pulley,Exhaust). Too bad my 01 was gone before he could redeem himself.. I would have loved to see the differance his mods made on the street..
