I have a powered subwoofer in the trunk. It needs to tie in to a voltage line that turns on and off with the ignition. The subwoofer senses the voltage and switches on and off accordingly.
Most aftermarket stereos have a connection for this but as I am tying it all in to the stock unit I need to find my own trigger.
I'll probably connect into one of the cigar lighters.

Yes there is a 'wake up' signal to the existing alpine amp in the boot if you have the premium sound system. I used this to power up a new system I installed in my car. If you look at the wiring diagrams for the sound system you'll be able to identify which wire it is. It's a while since I did mine and I can't remember which colour it is.

How does the trunk sub sound? I am considering either replacing stock shelf 6.5" subs with aftermarket or going with a 12" in the trunk? Only a few 6.5" options out there and not sure they'll hit the lows enough. Worried that the trunk sub sound might be blocked by the rear seat too much and rattle the trunk lid. Hate to give up trunk space if doesn't sound great.
