Sun Visor Removal Help 2006 Base XJ8
My car is rarely out in the sun but after 11 years of little Florida sun exposure the air bag warning labels melted one day and when we put our hand on the visor, part of the label came off. I tried to remove it and instead it has turned into one rectangular smudge. I'm considering either going to a headliner shop where perhaps they can remove the visors and put a new cloth on it or finding replacement visors on eBay. I read post here on the forum that for the 2004 model the plug is inside the headliner which has to be lowered (which is above my skill level). I have a 2006 model, it might be different. I was going to remove the visor to verify if I could see the connecting plug but I can't even do that. It has a little rectangular piece with a notch that I tried pushing out but it does not give. I don't want to force it too much so as not to break it. I was thinking perhaps the whole piece gets separated from the roof?
Thanks in advance for any tips.
Original Label ruined when melted with Florida heat.
Ruined Label
Do I remove this piece entirely first or insert a screwdriver into the notch and force it out?

Pop the cover off with a flat blade screwdriver.
I believe the visor assembly is held on with torx bolt(s) they will be visible once you pop that cover off. Remove bolt(s) disengage from the latch holder that locks the visor in and pull the visor assembly down carefully and disconnect the small electrical connector that powers the light in the visor.
Installation is reverse of removal.

Air Bag Label Removed
It turns out I didn't have to remove the visor to either get it re-upholstered or to install a new one. Reluctantly I tried this product called "Goof Off" it removed the label very quickly and easily. There was some brown residue that kept coming out on my cloth, I had to use a about 5 terry towels (for both visors) always making sure I used a clean section. After I removed the "label" I used "Tuff Stuff" carpet cleaner, and as a final step "Resolve". I thought "Goof Off" would discolor the visor but it did not do so.
Now my Engine Coolant Low light comes on for about one minute after I start the car, it has plenty of coolant so it must be a bad sensor.
Anyways here are some pictures of the visor cleaned out and of the main product that did the job. The black stuff on the cloth is what came out with the removal of the label, which I later learned on the forum is not a label but inked on.
Goof Off, The brown stuff kept coming out even with only using "Tuff Stuff". Start with "Goof Off" since it was "Tuff Stuff" that did the initial smudging of the label.
Nice and Clean
