Suspension bushings
Hello Gents,
I have converted my air ride to coil shocks just recently and now I am about to replace the front sway bar links because one is busted so I am going to replace both for good measure. While I am in there I would like to get all of the bushings changed due to all of the wear and tear issues I hear about them on these threads. My question is: how many bushings are there that should be replaced? For instance, sway bar bushes, control arm bushes, etc. Anyone know where to get them for a good price?
By the way, my 04 XJR has 93000 miles on it.
Regards
T B

1st of all, the majority of suspension parts on the X350 are shared with the >2003 S-Type and the X150 XK, and a lot of these parts are made by ZF Lemförder, you can see some of them here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...0-x350-101725/
The front sway bar (anti-roll bar) bushes can be changed out, but you need to disassemble a far bit of stuff to get to them, have a look here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...solved-124412/
I overhauled as many of the suspension bushes in my XJR as I could (although I left some as they did not need doing, the spherical joints were still OK).
I put some polybushes in, which in hindsight I probably would not do again, but anyhow...
If you go to the ZF online catalogue WebCat 3 enter the vehicle model all the available ZF / Lemförder parts are shown.
And how nice of them to list the Jaguar part numbers for each product
C2C26267, C2C26851, C2C36029, C2C4471, = 29783 01, Control Arm Bush, Front Axle, Lower, Left and right, Front, inner
C2C4437 = 29784 01, Control Arm Bush, Front Axle, Lower, Left and right, Centre, inner
C2C4438 = 29785 01, Control Arm Bush, Front Axle, Lower, Left and right, Centre, Outer
In addition
C2C12119, C2C18350 & C2C36866 = 35353 01, "Damper Bush" Control Arm Bush, Front Axle, Lower, Left and right, Centre
So to refurb your front wishbones on both sides, you need a pair of each Lemförder part in bold.
But we are still missing the bush from the other end of the front wishbone arm, apparently these never wear out?
The bushes for the front upper wishbones can also be changed without having to buy a complete upper wishbone, but the ball joint in that wishbone cannot be changed, so if it's loose you have to buy a complete wishbone. You need to remove the shocks to get the upper wishbones out.
The rear suspension is a little more complicated...
The bush from the bottom of the rear shock is already a spherical joint
Jaguar P/N C2C26852 or Polybush P/N 31AZ for the poly one.
Turns out mine are OK so we won't be putting in the poly
The rear upper wishbone has a spherical joint bush in the rear, and a plain bush in the front.
The plain bush in mine is replaced with the Polybush 31AX leaving the spherical joint bush in the rear.
Actually there is a guy on ebay from Portugal who sells both bushes together HERE
I was going to contact him & ask if he will sell just the spherical rear bush on it's own, but as it turns out the ones on my car were OK.
So there are a few ways to go with the upper rears. Poly/Poly, Plain/Spherical or Poly/Spherical. I'm went with the 3rd option.
The lower rear wishbone is a similar scenario.
The front bush is a plain one (actually it's a hollow rubber bush on mine) and this is going to be replaced with the Polybush.
The outer and rear bushes (i.e. the special ones from Racing Green) are again spherical joints.
The outer & rear are also available from that Portuguese fellow HERE and HERE
Or you can buy all three bushes (but with a plain rubber front) HERE
Sorry it's a bit random, had to cut/paste from other forums...
Have a look for S-Type bushes, as the cars were more plentiful, the aftermarket seems to offer S-Type parts more than for the XJ, but they are the same for the >2003 models.
Check with our forum sponsors SNG Barratt & Coventry West, they will probably offer some forum discounts.

Great info
Thanks for the detailed info and gathering all of it for me. It seems to me there is more to this than I initially thought. Because of this, I want to make sure that I'm replacing what needs to be replaced and leaving what is good to go. So, how would I know if my bushings are bad or not?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

2005 XJR front lower control arm Bushing
Hey Guy's. Replacing all the bushing on the front end on my 2005 Xjr. Would like to verify the front curved lower arm outer bushing number it almost looks like the lower shock mount bushings. I found them on Beck & arnley site for $25.57 each. but like to make sure. This the only busing i dont have a number for.
