Default Swapping out the air springs, (Sport to Comfort)

I have found a pair of new "Comfort" rear air springs on eBay, and intend to look for fronts fairly soon, (at the right price, of course !). Then I will be in the position to swap out the existing "Sport" springs which I find unacceptably harsh.

Question I have is what quirks are there to doing the swap ? I know the lower front spring bush bolts can prove very difficult to undo, but is there any peculiarity with the SCM. According to the JTIS disc I have, one has to fiddle around electronically with the SCM via WDS. Why would this be ? The video I saw on this forum for putting in rebuilt Arnot springs just mentioned disconnecting the battery.

So the real question is - having swapped them over, will the suspension right itself back to its normal height ? After all, I will not be disturbing the height sensors.

You need to do it when the suspension is "not looking".

Thanks gents for the posts.

I did some more searching and came across the two Arnott videos on Youtube showing how to swap out the air springs with their rebuilt units. Instruction was to disconnect the battery, after the car was up on the ramp. What things depend on battery being connected ? Radio code presumably lost, but what about TCM adaptions ?

I also found another Youtueb video by a chap called Michael Goetz on removing the front air springs, and the problem there can be with the lower securing bolt seizing up. This seems to be a common problem.

I have the radio code in the handbook wallet.

Well, I've now received the two rear shock units. Unused " new old stock", and the 'Comfort' setting. £400 incl shipping, so a good price. All I need are two fronts. Anybody care to input on the Arnott videos I looked at ? Both videos tell you to disconnect the battery, but I'm not sure what effect this has elsewhere. Anyone ?

So next Spring, I may do the job, and hope to find two fronts. I may bite the bullet and buy two Bilstein units and hope to sell the old 'Sport' units for a few quid to offset the cost.

Is the swap from Sports to Comfort as simple as removing the old Sport struts and replacing with Comfort struts as I am interested in doing this?

My 110k mile XJR suspension is feeling tired and is getting very bouncy, which suggests the dampers are on the way out and it has a slight leak on one of the rear units, so I need to address this now or sell it.

I would like to keep the car and replace with used struts for obvious financial reasons but the Sport variety just aren't available here on the used market and yet I could pick up 4 comfort units immediately.

I don't care about the softer setup as the XJR is all about straight line pace for me plus I'm assuming the Super rides on comfort suspension and handles its 400 bhp just as well.
