I just bought an 04' with 122k miles. From its maintenance records, it looks like a lot of the early x350 bugs were fixed under warranty. Many more items were replaced under an extended warranty. I've only owned it a couple of weeks, but so far so good. The only issue I had was with the air suspension. Everything else seems to be perfect. I love this car!
Check the maintenance history as much as you can.
One reason I went with an 04' (other than the condition of this car) was the price. Having passed the 10 year mark, the book value should be less than newer models.

I have been to busy to drive it in the last 6 months took it out today for a big run
I am in love again some clowns on the motorway thought the speed limit was 70kmh so I decided to drive around them couple other drivers didn't like me doing that in the jaguar so I booted it up to 200kmh to pass them all did it with ease felt safe and surprised me a bit as well
You only live once they are finicky just need the right guy to work on them or be adept at doing your own work lots of guys do on this forum

And my UK-registered 2003 XJ6 bought at 30k in 2010 is now on 82k miles. A few issues over the four years, but we're off to Germany in it next week ! These cars will run the marathon, but do need meticulous maintenance. The editor of the magazine of the UK Jaguar Enthusiasts Club has same year as mine, (although a V8), and is now on 211k miles. He really doesn't know what he can buy to replace it, he loves it so much !
