Telephone Install?

I want to install a phone for use with the Navigation system on my '04 VP. Which phone works best and what is required?
Do I have to go to Jaguar to have installed?
How much should I expect to pay?
I was thinking I would just add an additional line to my current cell phone account, buy the correct phone for the Jag, and do call forwarding on my iPhone to the Jag's cell phone. I would then replicate my address book to the Jag's cell phone for outgoing calls.
What do you think?

Assuming you mean a Blue Tooth phone, I had a recent experience which may be helpful. I am a committed Verizon user. It turns out that they have many phones which will connect with the car bluetooth system but only one, according to my Verizon rep, which will also transfer the address book. It is a Motorola MOTORIZR Z6tv V CAST phone. It has more features than I want but it does work including the transfer of the address book to the navigation system.
I have a 05 Jaguar XJR
Good luck. I did find making the bluetooth connection very easy...about a 3 minute task!

I believe that for 04 it was an option. Newer models had it as standard. If you do not have it, I believe
it can be added but when I looked into it when I was considering purchasing an 04, I found it pretty pricey. If
you don't have it then you might want to call your dealer and get a quote. Perhaps other readers have added the package and
can give you a better idea about the price.

I am trying to setup my phone with the Bluetooth on my Jag. However, we were testing it with a friends phone first and now I am unable to un-connect his phone setup from my Jag.
How can I reset the Phone/bluetooth setup on my Jag? When I hit Phone button, the Sig illuminates but the ***** indicating it's looking for signal is no longer appearing.....

I just found the answer on wikianswers.com
Obviously not all phones are compatable. i know most newer sony erricscon nokias and samsung some will work ok to talk/receive but not all will let you download contacts list. although you can do this manually via bluetooth. with the screen on key turned in ignition press ##3#*# then press the making call button it should then say discover me on youre phone go to bluetooth settings then look for bluetooth on,then locate/discover devices when its found jaguar on youre screen click o/k then it should ask for passcode which is 1313 then go to authorise device on youre phonr that should get it connecting automatically each time you leave then re enter the car

I have a 2005 S-Type but was told that phones that work with an XJ of that year will also work with my car.
The problem was that I have another Bluetooth equipped car and my phone had to work with both. I also have Verizon service.
I used the Jaguar web site (not the telephone salesman) to find that the Blackberry 8330 works well with both of my cars including the phonebook. The only issue I have is that when the cars are parked side by side, sometimes I can't go from one to the other without manually disconnecting and then re-connecting with the other car. However, once I do that, this phone works well.

I am continuing to have problems with my setup.
Once I did the ##3#*# code, I was able to begin using my phone immediately several weeks ago. However, a few weeks later, I bought another phone and now my Jag display says (No Phone). I am not able to use any phone at the moment....

My dealer noted that to "install bluetooth" it would cost about $2000. I bought an "external" bluetooth unit (Blackberry VM-605) for $60! This unit works through it's internal speaker or via the FM radio. It allows a choice of multiple FM stations. This allows one to bypass the 87.7 station issue. This works with my blackberry, but I believe it will work with other phone types. This is the way to go. I can't recommend this enough. You could place the bluetooth unit on the visor or anywhere else that would allow you to access. You simply have to touch the unit to answer or make a call. It's a nice alternative.

This is a question pertaining to the possible installation of an older Cell Phone in circa 1993 into a 1993 XJS Coupe just left of the left fuse box.
I am new to this car and found a four wire shielded cable with a red, black, slate. and a braided wire plus the shield. It is alleged that there could have been a cell phone installed in the car. Black and red wires are usually power lines and the braided wire acts as shielding. I don't know the usual purpose of the slate wire. Does anybody have a clue on the use of this four wire cable or suggestions
Will post on XJS Forum
