Default Thank you to all for the invaluable advice

I want to thank all who have taken the time to help with information, advice, and wealth of experience in dealing with my 2004 XJ8 VDP.

It was a fantastic car, but after it was rear ended, despite extensive repairs, it wasn't the same. It was too maintenance intensive after that. So, on the 24th, I traded it in on a 2004 Audi a6 allroad.

I know, I know, it is a teutonic station wagon, soulless in it's technology. But as Jaguar did not see it fit to put into production the fantastic x350 based station wagon ("estate") concept, I just had to give it up. Incidently, with 113,264 miles, rear end accident, non functioning nav and stereo, and consequently rear entertainment (see my previous post on that), intermittent "gearbox fault" (almost constant by now), worn bushings and clunky suspension over bumps, blown tire in the spare tire hold, the good folks at the M-B dealership still gave me $4000 trade in value for it! and my loan balance was only $260 more!

BUT, i will miss the "character and grace" to the Jaguar. not to worry though, I still have my '83 XJ6 series III!

This forum is an invaluable wealth of well intentioned and knowledgable enthusiasts!

Thank you for all your help!

Audi is a good car, although I have heard their suspension can be a bit hard. Don't their air sprung cars use the same system as Jaguar ? Actually, does Audi still make air sprung cars ?

Yes, the 2014 Audi A8 L has an air suspension system according to the Audi USA website. Not that I am considering giving up on my Jag, I just like to know what the competition is doing (Audi A8, MB S Class, BMW 7 series).

"With Audi quattro® all-wheel drive, the 2014 Audi A8 L responds with confidence to weather conditions and the road. Our engineers combine quattro® with an eight-speed Tiptronic® automatic transmission, Audi servotronic® power steering, and Audi adaptive air suspension to create both a confident and sporty driving experience.

Audi's are great cars, still love my A6.

Yes I believe the Allroad uses the same suspension setup, certainly the same compressor ( ask BagpipingAndy ) and the A8's I'm sure as Brent says

The photo of the Audi shows air springs that look identical to those on the X350 Jaguars. I do wonder whether they really are the same.

Hi Fraser Mitchell…yes, actually, the air suspension on the Audi all road is quite firm. very unlike the suspension on the x350! however, hitting the accelerator on a damp road and letting loose and no "tail wagging" is quite interesting
