Default thinkdiag2 scanner on a 2005 xj8

Anyone have experience with the capability of this bidirectional scanner. Can it set ride height on the 2005 model? I have a iCarsoft v3 which is ok but I was hoping for more service options.

Thoughts?

I have the Bluetooth version of the Thinkdiag Pro. The option to reset the ride hight is available, but I haven't used it yet. Her's my general opinion of the product.
I have a 2004 VDP and I have read that some of the OBDII code readers have difficulties working with this model year, but the Thinkdiag Pro has no problem reading the codes from all the Jag specific models. It also supports a long list of car models. In addition to the Jaguar, I have a Volvo, VW and a Mercedes and I am able to read the codes from all the modules of the car brands that I have (brand specific, not only the generic codes).

The price is excellent. You can find it on Amazon for $80-90, but I bought mine from dhgate.com for $36.

It can read the codes from all the modules fairly fast, although, I have used it mainly to monitor the suspension and the compressor status.
The interface is not the best, it takes many clicks to get it setup, and it does not remember nor have the option to save the selections for future use, so you have to go through the same sequence of steps every time you need to use it, a minor inconvenience.

Just like most Chinese products, it came with very little documentation, so initially, it took me around 30 minutes to figure out how to get it to read the VIN number, but once that was figured out, the rest is just a matter of exploring the different menu options.

Very interesting. Thinkcar makes a bunch of stuff up to high end/expense. In fact so many I can't think...
In fact my local agent says "PRODUCTS TO REGISTERED AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS PROVIDERS ONLY" (so it must be good???)
They also say "beware of ripoffs", which is possibly a standard warning.
It appears to do suspension (~17min). This is for Landrover but best I could find. Without any direct knowledge, it seems reasonably impressive.

Post ThinkCar Thinkdiag Bluetooth Pro impressions

I did buy a THINKDIAG as an easier and quicker diagnostic tool, found a verified ThinkCar distributor, got it for $49 including shipping and the Pro version of the software registration for one vehicle manufacturer.

Wish I had seen the post for the lower cost dh site which I may try for a second Thinkdiag module so I can carry one in each car.

Its software and use is indeed a bit quirky, but works well on both my X308 and X350, although I need to learn the other diagnostics available for the X350. I like the ability to reset only one module, but would love to have configuration of modules built in considering it is fee based annually.

On my X308 it cannot recognize the VIN so I only needed to enter it once manually, then it stores the VIN in the program. When the software loads and ID's the car with the VIN before moving forward to the diagnostics, it ID's my x308 vehicle as an X300, not an x308. Yeah, mines an x308 and it has an AJ27 engine, and it is the third production year 2000.

I need to take that screenshot and send some feedback to ThinkCar. I like the quick check to test inputs and outputs by system, although on the X308 it is limited for output testing.

Quirky is an understatement. I ran some of the diagnostic tests and data collection for the O2 sensors while the engine was running and got some very erratic engine operation causing the engine to misfire and shake the whole car until I turned off the engine. I could not restart the engine until I backed out of the tests and exited the Thinkcar program. There are no guides or instructions available explaining when to run the ThinkCar diagnostics with engine on, key on, etc. nor do the diagnostics explain what the software does while performing the diagnostics. It makes me a bit wary to run any Thnikdiag data collection while driving.

That does not happen with IDS/SDD, and both IDS/SDD and Torque Pro which is non-evasive for data collection - but the two are completely different tools. IDS/SDD explains many of the diagnostic tests purposes and when the engine is running and when the key needs to be in 0, 1, started.

A pro for Thinkdiag is ease of use not having to use a laptop, and initially the software price is included in the purchase price for the first year, and that you can use on any models of the manufacturer you initially selected.
The con is annual software subscriptions, not having any real instructions or explanatory materials, and not having module configuration capability.

Launch doesn’t listen to feedback. Just like every other brand get stolen stuff from the factory tool that function 90% of the time and you use common sense make it work for you.

It’s not a replacement for IDS but it works for most diy guys until they need to program stuff. Much better than a garbage icarsoft or a foxwell and such.

Datalogger is good, key programming works great (not immo setup don’t do that), most output state controls work except for the parkbrake.

@xalty to my surprise they actually answered my email within a day or two and asked for screenshots. Now we will see if they respond to the email.

They do a lot for other vehicles, but to get some of the better features they want you to buy their android display. The software itiself is the same, they simply unlochkdifferent features for different devices purchased.
I might give that a thought if I can locate a feature list by tool and vehicle model.
