Three-Legged Cat?

Three-Legged Cat?
Dear Forum,
Bearing in mind CATS works in pairs, if one CATS Damper fails electronically (the other three still functional) and the CATS SYSTEM FAULT light is on, is CATS as a whole now inoperable and defaulted to 'Firm', or is it still functioning on three legs, please?

As I understand it all four dampers default to 'hard' if there is a CATS fault.
EDIT:
From the 2004 Technical Guide:
"System Malfunction
"The ‘firm’ damper setting provides greater vehicle stability at all driving conditions and has a higher priority than the ‘soft’ setting. Therefore, in the event of a malfunction in the adaptive damping or air-suspension systems the dampers will default to the ‘firm’ setting."

Thank you Partick the Cat; that was also my understanding now confirmed.
I have been trying to get rid of a CATS System fault for some 6 months. Right now, I have cleared fault C2304 with the skilful help of William with his Post #38 https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...2/#post2156428
by fitting resistors to all four CATS connectors at the Damper ends.
Must I then presume that even though I have no CATS System faults (having no CATS at all), my dampers are now fixed at 'Firm'?

I certainly would be interested to hear from any Member prepared to disconnect one of their CATS connectors, 'gaining' the CATS System Fault light and thereby switching their ASM to 'Firm' and then describing to me just how 'different' their car's suspension felt?
I am asking this because I really do not know whether or not I have ever had a 'Soft' setting? My suspension has always felt pretty much the same (irrespective of the last 6 months of CATS System Fault) and apart from obviously much, much better handling around two years ago when I replaced just about every control arm and bush with OEM)?
I have this horrible suspicion that I have never really enjoyed the true 'ride' of my beautiful Jaguar!
