thumping up front
Hello out there in JAGUARFORUMLAND , I have a 2004 XJ8 sedan, when I turn left while driving there is a thumping noise, not as bad when I turn right. Slow speed seems to be worse. Just got new tires and all wheel alignment. Had noise before and still have it, I'm thinking wheel bearings. What do all you experts think. As always thanks to all have a great day.

Hi Chris,
I'd check all the suspension components for any play. Check for bushes that may have worn, especially things like anti roll bar bushes and anti roll bar links that can cause clunks when driven over bumps at low speed. As you say check for play in the wheels which might indicate a bearing failure but you should be getting a rumbling/grinding noise when in motion if the bearing needs replacing.
Thanks,
Chris
