Default Ticking noise for a few seconds on initial start

Hi on my xj6 2.7 diesel 2007 106k milesI have noticed a ticking noise from cold start...it tends to go away after a couple of seconds...when my mechanic had a very quick listen he said don't worry it's just the oil come up to pressure....

Yesterday was the first time I noticed it and I can only hear it while standing outside. It can't be heard from inside....

It happens first thing in the morning and then any time the car has been left turned off for 15 mins or more....

I only noticed this after an oil change was completed and we used a FRAM oil filter.... I did read some mention about an anti drain valve but I believe this type cartridge of filter used in the catmay not have one. But not sure

Does anyone else have this noise...is it normal. Might it be non standard filter.. or any other thoughts...I only have the car a few weeks and I'm a bit anxious.... While my last two cars did the same thing from time time this seems to do it all the time and I am concerned about doing damage

I am going to get a genuine filter during the week to see if that makes a difference

Many thanks

Ticking on start up is usually valve lifters. I don’t know if you’re car has hydraulic lifters or solid but if it’s hydraulic, then the oil pressure is taking longer to build up and fill the lifters. It is not your filter. Perhaps the wrong oil was put in? To thick or to thin? Or maybe the oil pump is getting weak and the new fresh oil is to much for it to get things primed up? The problem may go away as your oil gets some age on it.

Thanks for the feedback. I did some more research and found both another Jag forum for the 3l version of this engine that is seemed quite normal and a lot of people had the same thing and then a bit more interesting was a landrover Disco forum which refers to the same 2.7 engine and mentions that it's quite common on them also. On the same forum there was a guy who answered who said he worked at Peugeot and that nearly every engine he listened to didi the same thing and went as far to check the Peugeot tech data which mentioned that the noise if normal as long as it does not go beyond 30 secs... I think 30 sec is long but mine is only lasting a bit less than 2 secs..... I feel now the bottom line is that it happens but not to all engines and that it is quite common and not to worry the unless if goes on for a long time. I did change to an original oil filter and it made not difference l am using the sepified oil Castrol 05 30 fully synthetic and meeting Jag spec

Many thanks
