Default Ticking noise under the bonnet when idling

Is this any cause for concern? Cannot hear the ticking sound with the doors closed. Car drives fine.

does it increase if you rev the engine a little? I'd guess a bit of a noisy lifter. They are self adjusting so if they get a little crud in there they may not come up to full oil pressure and they tend to tap a bit.
Not a concern if so, but you can run some engine cleaner thru it right before your next oil change, often cleans it out. a can of Sea Foam is what I've used.

There are no lifters in the AJ33. The bucket rides directly on the valve stem, a shim sets the clearance and the cam directly contacts the bucket. The clearance is manually set. There are no self-adjusting hydraulic mechanisms.

Well thanks David, I was under the impression it had hydraulic lifters. Learn something new each...

i was reading one thread about this where the symptoms were pointing to the purge valve. I just replaced the PCV valve , and have a new purge vale. cant seem to locate this. can somebody please point me in the direction? my tapping sound does not sound engine related , but as one of the members said , can hear it in the lower left dash when idling. its PM# IJG151BB

thanks
