Rings a bell !!!
I tented at Le Mans in 1978 on a weekend trip from London (though I don't recall it was my Series 2 XJ at the time, more likely a flatmate with something else).
I toured Ireland in my S2 XJ6 the same year, so recognize your ferry pic. Trouble was, I got a flat battery, no-one would help, so I was the last car off the ferry!
Ah those were the days, parking our "latest" Jag around the corner then turning up at a Youth Hostel in Dublin with backpacks.
Not to mention (being skint at the time) running out of petrol in London, confidently switch to the 2nd tank (Series 2), then run out that too on the other side of the intersection.
Luxury! Latest model 1974 XJ6 in 1978! (purchased in UK to import to NZ at a slight profit. Had to use it to satisfy import restrictions so toured Ireland amongst others)

I’m just on the ferry as I type this and the WiFi is very poor so sorry for the delay replying ⛴️

I just got home yesterday after a long week catching up on work etc.
Yeah it was a nice trip and the car was perfect for it as the boot swallowed up everything we needed and then some! Including all the cheap beer and plonk I took home 😎🍷
The weather was poor but it didn’t spoil the trip.
Here’s a few more photos I took of the car and also some race cars and a few from Saint-Malo where I stayed on Monday and Tuesday 🤗

yes the colour is what sealed the deal when I went to look at it, as well of course the condition it was in.
I’ve just posted several more photos on Jeff’s reply but here’s a few more just for you 😉

Book it now for next year as bookings are already opened … you’ll then have the whole year to look forward to it 😉
Try ‘travel destinations’ which is who I’ve gone with twice 👍
