Question Tools vs Mods vs Bling

If you had an extra $1000 or so laying around and had a green light to spend it on your car, what would you buy?

Myself, I would invest in a few special tools a scan tool for one, maybe balance puller, camshaft tooling, or a better polisher. The scanner I could justify right away the other stuff not so much.

I'm not into mods anymore just seems to make the car a little bit more iffy and when your constantly tinkering with something you have a tendence to haul a lot of stuff in the trunk. LOL

As far as bling take it or leave it.

What ever your answer might be please give a little bit of justication on your choices. This ought to be fun!

Since you have an SV8 and assuming the car doesn't need repairs...., an uprated supercharger pulley. Makes the car more fun to drive :-). Go whole hog and do the 3lb pulley... (supercharger snout needs some machining though...)

For your next $1000, Mina Exhaust. Make the car sound really nice.... and not too loud.

I purchased my first jag, 2004 XJ8 w/43,000 miles in March. The mods I had done total more than a grand, but thought I would share anyway.
Wheels, wanted something to make the car look a little leaner. $470.00 installed
DVD/CD, Navigation, Bluetooth unit. Sony with a custom wiring harness and faceplate. $1300.00 installed.

Next, paint the rotors black, calipers silver (silver car) and finish with red Jaguar decals.

I would personally buy the code scanner. I would also love to be able to hook my phone music up to the stereo. Those will be my first extravagances.

I'd be interested in seeing your wheels, if you don't mind. I have a feeling this car came with something other than 5 spoke painted wheels. I also have mismatched lugnuts with varying number of washers. Not high on the list but I do want to be able to change a tire along the road without toting a full set of tools!

I jut ordered a CANOBDII 3160 from Amazon. 198.00 + 20.00 overnite shipping. I hada chance to use a 3130 and was pretty impressed. I have a MT2500 Snap On Scanner with cartridges from 81- 2001, all the japanese forgien car stuff, transmission cart., troubleshooter, dedicated printer etc. I flipped when I walked back on a Snap On truck to find out it was discontinued with no support! I don't have a smartphone, wife has one, I don't need it, but an I pod or USB would be very usefull.

780.00 to go!

I'd like to get the JaguarVoice & Bluetooth modules retrofitted into my '04 XJR. Or maybe just get a Motorola T605 put in for the bluetooth part and spend the balance on Formula One tickets!!

I have the same scanner, Snap-On still provides support though the website. You can still purchase Cartridges from them or other venders. I purchased the European Cartridge for use on my VDP but I still need the adapter and Key.

My next $1000 will go on an alacantara headlining. Will give an even better sense of quality in the cabin!

Then...
Then...
Then... there's bound to be many more ;-)
