I suppose one could use the RCA inputs on a rear screen/DVD car and use an inexpensive DTV converter box (assuming the OP is in the USA), run audio and video in that way? The challenge would be getting enough gain/amplification to get a usable TV signal if you're not in a major metro area.

I'm in So Cal so that would be a no problem on the RF gain, I saw another thread where a guy mapped out the wires that were the inputs for the screen....I can't remember if it was vert and horizontal or rca but it was pretty involved. I was hoping there was a module I could find and install easily. I would have no problem doing the splicing and stuff like the other gentleman did but it's a lot of work for little reward. If it was only a Japan thing I'm sure if there was a module it would only be PAL.

My car is ex Italy and has the TV functionality for the touch screen as a factory option from new.
Unfortunately, it is an analogue receiver and therefore is now useless.
I have not found any tip yet to convert it to digital, apart maybe using the RCA jackets in the rear armrest as mentioned by Paul, but I do not want to do this because I do not like having visible cables...
