Default Touch screen went black

Hi
I have 2006 xj VDP, the nav/radio screen went off completely AC and radio are working fine, I can hear the peep sound when I touch the screen but I don't see anything on the screen.
Has anybody have a good luck with upgrade to newer fancy touchscreen radio and nav receivers ? If not has anybody tried the OME from jegs.com they said they added aux and Bluetooth to the factory looking one ! Here is the link https://www.jegs.com/i/1-Factory-Radio/010/63858820NA2X/10002/-1

If not where do I find used original one ? And do I need programming at jaguar dealership?
Thank you

Upgrading to a "newer fancy touchscreen" can be done however it is quite a complex involved task because of the way Jaguar connects all of its modules to the Head Unit.

Search for JagDroid and you will see what I mean. Plus it still requires a working original screen.

Are you sure you cannot see a glimmer of light in the dark on the screen?

Reason I ask is that there are two modes of operation daytime and night time.

If not try doing a hard reset by taking off the battery leads carefully, negative 1st, and touch them together for about 10 seconds then reattach to battery positive 1st.

If that does not work you probably have a loose connection somewhere or even a blown fuse.

Default Thank you

Thank you for your help, I checked fuses #1,4,8,14 they all were good, the screen is completely off but it flickers sometimes. Jaguar dealership quoted me at 5472$ for new unit ( no kidding), the link I attached above they do refurbished and updated ones for reasonable price but I don't know if I need jaguar to program it . I will try the battery trick today. My thing is when I touch the screen it is touching and I can hear the peep but I don't see what I am touching exactly

I believe that the screen illumination is by a ~ 4mm diameter flourescent tube and it may be the tube or connections thereto.

I am sure that these things are repairable, I know that small dia tubes are available.

I suggest that you remove unit and find auto electrics repair specialist.

This one is in the UK:

How to contact BBA Reman - United Kingdom | BBA Reman

Seems they have a branch in the US now!

2004-07 Jaguar Xj8 Information Navigation Display Screen W/ Climate Control OEM

If you search Ebay with the above typed in you will find a head unit for $117.98

I do not believe it has to be programmed when fitted others may know better than I.

Have a look at the above.

If you buy another head unit the one mentioned in the above thread has Bluetooth and an aux input. For not too much extra it seems like a good deal.

An unlock code is mentioned. I am sure that could cost a lot from a dealer. Not sure how else, other than possibly Jlr sdd software, you would deal with that issue IF it is real.

If the unlock code refers to the radio code I have never had an issue with that. People have said it is of concern if you disconnect the battery however I
have never had an issue after disconnecting my battery.

Default It worked again but flickers

So, I had cruise control not working so I disconnect and reconnect the battery and cruise fixed and the screen worked ! But it randomly flickers like horror movie screen then it will turn off and back on and flickers. Also I have 2 of the lighter sockets not working, I checked the fuses and they are fine
What the action ?

That refurbed unit is a no go for the X350. It does not have Bluetooth.

Thanks for the confirmation John. I hate it when things ARE too good to be true.

Default More updates

So, I took the new/used head unit apart and pulled out the screen only out of the unit , witched it with the screen of my unit and put everything back
Bingo it is on and working fast and touchy 😊
