Default TPMS sensor fault

I've been replacing my sensors, not because they're failing but because the fancy valve caps I bought (metal) actually welded themselves onto the valve stems. I broke 3 out of 4 trying to remove the caps. After the third replacement the low pressure indicator light went out as expected after a few miles. But then after about 12 miles more or so I got a "Tire Pressure Sensor" fault on the message center. It keeps displaying and then going away as I drive.

An OBD scan shows no codes. I don't know which sensor is faulting or why. Any ideas on finding out or is this something that will go away as the car retrains? It's a Dorman sensor. This problem didn't occur with the last Dorman I changed.

Also when I broke the very first valve stem the message center told me which tire was low. But after that I got no such message, just the low pressure indicator. Does Jag have to have to use their magical scan tool to make some of my money disappear?

Anybody? I'm going to try letting air out of each tire until I DON'T get a low pressure warning. I'd guess that's the wonky sensor. Can it be that simple?

I don't know for sure but expect that an ordinary OBD tool won't see TPMS codes. Probably need a jag-specific one.

I think you are right. I went to the dealership today and they ran a scan on the system. Found that one sensor was definitely bad and that the ones I replaced could not be identified by the car. This caused a fault in the security? module.

Anyway, I was told that the cost to replace all 4 running wheel sensors would be $599.00. The sensors that are on the car still will indicate low pressure via the idiot light they just won't ID which wheel it is. For $50 (aftermarket) vs. $600 I can live with that (at least for now).

Default Which brand of sensor

What brand of tpms sensor is used by Jaguar? If replacing them (again) will stop the message center from telling me there's a fault every 10 minutes, it worth it.

But only some brands that claim to be compatible cannot be "read" by the car to report their location, although they will report low pressure. So which brands are totally compatible with the car?

thanks
