Default Transmission error light

Hi everyone. Please help. i have an orange transmission light on and the jag wont start. i think the transmission fluid is overfilled by half a pint or so. Could this be the reason? I tried moving the gear to neutral. The car can roll but still wont start. I tried to diagnose but it only says transmission error. It was driving fine and I Parked it for three days and now this. Its not the battery because the battery is new. Please help. Thanks

Battery age is immaterial. What is the voltage across the battery terminals with the ignition in the OFF position when checked with a voltmeter? If the voltage is less than 12.6 volts, charge the battery for five hours at 2 to 5 amps and retest it again with the voltmeter.

Hi
I am sorry am not here often these days. I work for disaster management so we have our hands full during this lockdown phase.
I had the battery charged for over 5 hours and still no luck. The orange transmission light is still on. Now am getting worried, I hope its not serious. Any help will be appreciated.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...driving-51970/

Have a look at post #3 in the above to start.

Others with more knowledge will chime in I am sure.

1621 not listed above however

P1621 Possible Causes

What does this mean?
  • Faulty Powertrain Control Modules (PCM)
  • Low car battery voltage

Hi Members

Many thanks for all the help. I charged the battery overnight and the car started. Something drained the battery because I had parked it for more than a week. Battery centre checked it in the vehicle and the alternator was given a thumbs up. They advised that I must use the vehicle often. I will still look into the faults again. Am glad I joined this forum

If you leave the car parked for longish periods use a ctek or equivalent battery maintainer.
