Default Transmission filter wash to clean it rather than changing it?

Hello all
I need some help, I have an X350, the transmission valve block sleeve had leaked oil so the dealer told me they will need to drop pan in order to change the sleeve and oil needs to changed under warranty, the only thing is I have been told that they will not change the pan which has the filter they will only wash it and put it back, as I understand that the pan is a consumable item and needs to be changed. have you heard of such a thing called washing the filter!
any help is much appreciated

It's possible but I wouldn't do it. It is only a wire screen I think.

I would furnish them with a real ZF pan.
