Default Transmission Leaking

Need help. I found a fairly large oil spot on the ground underneath the transmission. Upon closer inspection, I found where the leaks are.

this is looking from front to back.

It seems the leak is coming from top of the transmission and that black circular rubber. Any ideas how to fix this?

Unless you have Mercon in your transmission that looks like coolant to me.

I thought that too, but the fluid is slippery. If it's indeed coolant fluid, where is it coming from? Does the transmission have to go down to replace a leaky hose?

Dexcool coolant does feel slippery.

I am not sure on the NA X350 but do not think so. Hopefully someone else will chime in who knows for certain.

Check your coolant level as that looks fairly significant.

You could have both coolant, (the orange fluid) as well as leaking transmission cooling lines. (LG6 looks more like engine oil)

I had the same issue (although much more minor) on my recently acquired XJ8. It is tranny fluid, leaking from where the shaft goes into the transmission. Took mine to a transmission shop, they used dye in the engine to confirm it wasn't oil (although the dealer mis-diagnosed and replaced the camshaft seal in the engine).

Master Tech told me that there is either a seal where the shaft enters the transmission ("the main seal") or there is the pump held in place by 8 bolts, and one of the bolts is leaking. $1100 to pull the tranny and replace seals at either the dealer or that national transmission chain. Some friends said we could pull the tranny in a couple hours, and the seal is about $20, so I will wait till mine looks like yours.

Sorry, wish I had better news for you. A simple job once someone pulls the tranny, so maybe an inexpensive mechanic can be found?
