Default Transmission Sleeve Questions

Ok, I have done a full search on the site but have not seen the answer to my question...When the seal is breached what kind of problems will the transmission have? I understand it can not communicate with the on
board systems properly, but what are typical symptoms one would one see in shifting , slippage, early/late shifting, etc.???

Transmission fluid seeps out and gets into the plug-in socket, and dirt gets in too, and then the pins fail to connect, so the TCM can't exchange info with the other modules. So if a seal is replaced, part of the work has to be cleaning up the pins and sockets. The new seals are improved over the originals.

It is impossible to predict what the symptoms maybe because you cannot predict what contacts maybe interrupted nor may you know exactly how much oil has leaked out.

I changed the sleeves on my 04 S-type and my 04 XJ because they were leaking. Neither transmission had any fault codes, both exhibited harsh 1st-2nd shift up(but not down) otherwise they seemed OK to me. I was changing the pan/filter and fluid anyway and the sleeves were less than $10US each it was a no brainer. Also the connecter on both cars were clean inside. The oil was seeping around the bottom edge of the sleeve and down the gearbox case.
