Recently I discovered the rear driver's side window would only go down and not back up using the driver's door control. The rear control was working fine.


Today it went down but won't go back up with either control. There's a light on on the driver's control switch. I don't know what the light indicates and would like to find out.


Any advice on how to proceed with the troubleshooting? Thanks.

 

Well, I feel a little foolish. In the light of day this morning I discovered that the little light on was the master override switch that had cut off power to the rear controls. So now I'm back to the rear window control working, and the driver's control for the rear window just putting it down but not back up.

 

I would venture this is a classic case of a bad switch. Not from experience on my 04 XJR but my 85 and 77. Everytime that happened, the switch was disassembled and cleaned and more often than not, replaced at the end. That fixed the problem 100%.
