Default The two X350 owner types

Having had my X350 V6 3-litre for 12 months, and posting on this forum for about that time, it is clear to me that there are two types of owners of these cars. Some owners will have bits of each, of course.

1. The driving experience is all
Drivers in this category swear their Jaguars give them the best ride on the planet, but are not too much bothered whether a few things in the car don't work, like the CD player or the satnav, Hell, they can read a map and hum their favorite tunes !

2. Why doesnt the ICE allow me to....<big list of in-car entertainment system shortcomings, take your pick>
Drivers in this category don't give a damn how the car drives; they want their favorite music and they want it NOW and LOUD and don't see why Jaguar havent installed all the latest stuff.

So the question is - which one are you ?

I am mostly a 1, but find changing the CDs a bit of a chore, a bit like emptying the dishwasher every day, you like the washer, but wish there was a robot to do this !! And that Sat-Nav - those routes, who are they trying to fool, what's that, the way home is that way? you must be kidding !!

Not sure where I would fall in your categories.

I love Jags because of their classic looks, performance, heritage, limited sales (not many on the road), etc. And just the right amount of technology to satisfy my needs. I have owned many cars in the luxury class (Lexus LS, Infiniti Q, M & G coupe, Mercedes S, etc) and just find Jags to be my favourite. Recently I borrowed a friends 2006 BMW 750Li and while it was a nice car, it was plain, boring and a numb driving experience. The only thing it had going for it in my opinion was that it was dead quiet in the cabin.

I have been fortunate to not have many defects and overall find the ownership experience to be a pleasant one.

I'm going to guess that from your description and forum name, jahummer, you're going to fall firmly into category 1,

I love the looks, the power, the ride! I have to have everything working as new all the time and it has to stay clean. I can't stand it when it gets dirty! I'm just **** retentive I guess!

Default I Am Type I

It's no contest for me. I am willing to put up with the eccentricities of my Jag. I have an excellent independent repair shop here on the CA Central Coast (British Sports Cars). There is nothing that drives like a Jag. For me, it is well worth the occasional mishaps.

The two actual categories are:

1. those who know that the spoons are kept in the cutlery drawer, and

2. those who want, no demand, to be spoonfed

Now, humming means that a driver is not paying *full* attention to the task at hand, and the shadow from a telephone pole is a handy navigational aid when no map is around.

Default Another type?

How about the type that adds a power outlet below the driver seat out of sight to plug in a cell phone so the ashtray door can remain closed.

Is that a psychological condition that needs attention?

I just plug it into one of the rear console outlets or use the one in the glove box.
