I am replacing the coolant in my 2006 XJ8 (4.2 litre). I suspect that the present coolant is the original and is red in color.
What coolant are you currently using in these vehicles?
So many stories about coolant gelling and incompatibility.
Dexcool, Zerex G-05, Prestone etc. what coolant type does Jaguar recommend apart from probably their own brand.
My vehicle came without the Owners Manual, so I don't know any recommended specs.

After researching, like you are doing, I used the orange coolant from OReillys. It matches the specs. I have been using the orange for 7 of 9 years and have had absolutely zero cooling system issues in that time.

Page 212 says:

"Use anti-freeze to specification WSS M97B44 coloured orange, Extended Life Coolant............"

 

From research and the forums I came up with GM Dex-Cool, it meets the "WSS M97B44 Standards" and is Orange in color. I've used it when I had to top off shortly after purchasing the car (It was only down a tiny bit, but it bothered me) and I haven't had any problems.
