Tyres for X350

Hi all,
I recently bought an X350 (4.2l v8 supercharged)
It's just gone in for the first service under my name (100,000 mile service) and needed a 'fair' amount of work, I don't think the previous owner was as good to it as the first.
It needed the supersession belt, bottom wishbones and the garage have also recommended a new set of tyres as they are almost worn out.
I've been quoted 550+VAT for a set of NEXXEN tyres (the same as currently on), does anyone else have a view on NEXXEN tyres or could recommend an alternate good set of 4 tyres. My price range is between £400 - £700, can't really go much higher than that at this stage.
Any advice is greatly appreciated,
Sam

Well, here's a couple of reviews. Good and Bad like most of them !

and a UK tyre dealer site

If you're not a wheel spin to wheel lock type of driver, then you'll probably find they are OK, but there are better Korean makes. I have a set of Kumhos on my MG Midget, but that's a slow car, and two Acceleras on the rear of the Jag, my second two as the first two were perfectly OK. I'm 66 and retired, so don't speed around a lot. A bit like your old'ens in Florida, I suppose !

If price is an issue, then tire wear is an issue. Normally, cheaper tires for a touring car don't last as long as the better ones (the sticky high performance ones are another issue). Look at the tire wear index and try to get up in the 500 region. The original Pirelli P6's on mine lasted 60K miles and were still passing inspection. I bought new ones because they were over 5 years old and I don't run any tire past 5 years! I have had many of the cheaper Korean and Japanese tires and they generally have shorter tread life than the Pirellis. This affects real cost so just be sure to take everything into account.
