U-Joint
#6
I think OLE might be referring to the intermediate U Joint within the prop shaft.
Doubt there is a Jaguar part number for this as the prop shaft is sold as complete assembly.
If you just want to replace the U joint, then you will probably have to remove the current one to see if there are any defining sub-manufacturer part numbers so you can find an equivalent.
At worst take appropriate size measurements to find a robust suitable generic replacement.
You may also need to consider if by replacing just the U joint, whether that might create a variance of the shaft balancing.

Hello folks,
Thank you for all of your feedback and suggestions!
So...upon closer inspection the mechanic ruled out the drive shaft; also, he inspected the flex disc, u-joints, etc. and they look fine. Another suspicion was the rim but since the issue isn't consistent and pops up sporadically he concluded that the rim wasn't the culprit either...
So now we're back to square one. Mechanic is going to do a more thorough inspection.

I don't know why my brain was not working when I made my previous suggestions
after all everybody my age (b 1945) knows that universal joints are made by Hardy Spicer

But the joint style were more commonly known for he who bothered to analyze and publish the maths on their cyclical angular motion transfer.
That's why many folks call that style "Hooke" joints.
Rzeppa's are a whole 'nuther angle. Same folks improved those, too.
